How to Use the Mastech M-830b Digital Multimeter
To use the Mastech M-830b digital multimeter, you need to follow these steps:
Turn on the meter by rotating the switch to the desired function and range.
Connect the red test lead to the \"V.Î.mA\" jack and the black test lead to the \"COM\" jack. The polarity of the red lead is positive (+).
Connect the test leads to the circuit or component to be measured. For voltage and resistance measurements, connect the leads in parallel. For current measurements, connect the leads in series.
Read the value on the display. If the display shows \"1\", it means that the range is too high and you need to select a lower range. If the display shows \"-1\", it means that the polarity is reversed and you need to swap the leads.
Press the hold button to freeze the reading on the display. Press it again to resume normal operation.
Turn off the meter by rotating the switch to the \"OFF\" position.
Precautions and Maintenance Tips for the Mastech M-830b Digital Multimeter
To ensure safe and accurate measurements, you need to follow these precautions and maintenance tips:
Do not exceed the maximum input limits of each range. Refer to the specifications table for details.
Do not measure voltage or current on live circuits that might exceed 600V above earth ground.
Do not touch the exposed metal parts of the test leads when measuring voltage or current.
Do not apply voltage or current to the meter when measuring resistance, diode or transistor.
Do not use the meter in wet or humid conditions or in places with high temperature or strong electromagnetic interference.
Replace the battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display. To replace the battery, remove the two screws on the back of the case and lift off the cover. Replace with a new 9V battery and reassemble the case.
Replace the fuse when the current range does not work. To replace the fuse, follow the same steps as for replacing the battery. Replace with a new 200mA/250V fuse and reassemble the case.
Clean the meter with a soft cloth dampened with mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
